A small boutique with a big gypsy heart.
Curated for the Conscious.
The Guru was raised in a coastal town by a family dedicated to reusing, repurposing, and creating. She’s been a full-time hospo gal, hairdresser & gardener. After almost eight years sharing vintage at markets and festivals, she finally planted her feet and opened The Guru Knows retail store in her hometown on the Hibiscus Coast.
With that mantra deeply imprinted in her soul, she’s lucky to have turned this lifestyle into a job.
We spend time carefully cleaning, mending, and restoring each piece—bringing it back to its former glory and up to a high standard for our customers. It’s about more than just selling vintage; it’s about honoring the past, reducing waste, and keeping beautiful things out of landfill.
You won’t find us sticking to one style—where’s the fun in that? Some days, you want to blend in with earthy tones, and others, you want to stand out in a crowd.
Get creative, be bold, be brave.
Whether it’s hand-made or vintage, glitter or neutrals, we’ve got it!
We’re here to celebrate New Zealand artisans and creatives, showcasing and supporting local talent from the Hibiscus Coast and beyond.
After years of selling at markets and festivals, we wanted to create a space where you could shop that vibe every damn day. But don’t worry—you’ll still find us out in the wild, under our GURU tent, bringing the goods to you.
See the beauty in what’s already out there.
Nurture our Papatuanuku.
